Show Notes

It all started with this one. The first Best Picture winner was also a silent film ... the only completely non-talkie to ever win the top award. Yes, even The Artist (2011) had some words at the film's end.  But more importantly, Wings is a great film, from its direction, its incredible combat sequences, and the beautiful Clara Bow, known by everyone back then as the "It Girl".  Now, is Director William A. Wellman's epic war film deserving of that Academy Award?  Well, check out this episode, in which Jack takes on this query and even compares Wings to all the other greats of that time. Download and listen to this episode and hear his take on this classic to see if he gives it the Rewatch Oscar of 1927/28.
